In the early days of the war this appeared in the Eastbourne Gazette.
A True Christian Spirit
A daily paper says:- “A true Christian spirit is shown by the vicar of Holy Trinity, Eastbourne (the Rev. G.P. Bassett Kerry) in placing in the list of men on active service for whom the prayers of the congregation are asked, the name of a German now serving in the German Army. There are also in the lists which are placed at the entrance to the church the names of two Frenchmen who has also been connected with the parish”.
